Day 16 - Homer, Alaska
Oceanview RV Park

Made the long drive down to Homer today.... the drive was not eventful.. but did see a very large female moose grazing along the road.. other than that, it was much too civilized here... with McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Godfather's, along the way...   and traffic.   Raining on and off...   But as I reached Homer, I could see the beauty of the area, characteristic of Alaska... every area seems to present a different twist... here the city sits across the bay from a large range of mountains and glaciers...  with a large spit jetting out...   a beautiful sight even with hazy weather.

This is where the fisherman come...  out on the "spit" which is a strip of landfill going out for miles, are many Marinas with boats for hire.   Also several good fishing areas from the shore.  The Spit is filled with RVs and tents, most occupants do not appear to be there, so must be out on boats.   I checked in for one night, but may stay another day to rest here.   Managed to get my clothes washed and talked the manager into letting me use the fax line in her office for my modem connection after 6:30 tonight.   So I am hoping to get most of my changes uploaded.

The surprise was that I found a good bonifide Japanese restaurant in town.    So I had their special which was Terriyaki Halibut with a Japanese salad, rice, and Miso soup.   They also had a sushi bar there, so I may go back tomorrow.  They served the food in traditional Japanese "boxes" which was nice.   The only thing missing was the "hot towels", which I could have used.

After  resting and studying the local tourist information, I will decide where I go from here...  Getting too busy in this area... I may move on
