Day 27 - Burnaby, BC
Burnaby Cariboo RV Park
Up early and another long day put me in Vancouver about 5:00 PM. Luckily the rush traffic was going out of the city so I did not have too many delays getting here. I took the first Burnaby exit and stopped in a premiere Good Sam RV Park right in the middle of town. Each site has concrete pad with red brick along the side to step out on, and pruned bushes on both sides, manicured grass and bushes all around. The central building has a heated pool, and hot tub. Upstairs has a club room with cushy couch and chairs and wide screen TV. The office has a big store with lots of RV supplies and food, just like a mini super market. All this for just $20 (US) a night.... next to bus lines and a mall. I jumped in the pool and then did a couple rounds in the hot tub.. after 4 weeks on the road, it felt great! I was inspired so washed all the windows in the trailer after setting up, and wiped the dust off around the edges. Then cleaned the inside. I met a couple from Minnesota that was just leaving after a 6 week stay. He has been attending a class here and decided to camp out here with their tent camper for the six weeks. A great playground for the kids.
The drive was long and the normal scenery of gorgeous mountains, raging streams, and mirror clear lakes, was growing monotonous... but then I arrived at Cache Creek... just like walking into a mixture of Wyoming, Texas and Montana, with the rugged hills, canyons, rivers, big ranches... The road wound through the canyons with great views.. I was wide awake again with the new stimulation. Many roads for side trips into the canyon areas and I made a mental note to come back and spend a couple weeks in the lower half of BC sometime...
I plan to spend two nights here and rest up.. Vancouver looks like a fun city and I am looking forward to spending some time investigating it tomorrow with my Nephew who lives here.
