Day 27 |
| Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.... September 11th... after
getting a couple hours sleep at the campground, we decided to travel the Cabot
Trail.... we headed out about 10:00 and shortly caught a ferry across a small
river to connect up with the Cabot Trail.... on the Ferry, a man came up to the Jeep
window and asked if we were aware of what was happening back in our country... what he
told us was unbelievable, so we quickly turned on the radio and found the one station that
seemed to be covering the attacks.... we were shocked and after the Ferry arrived,
we had to pull over and listen to the radio for some time before going on..... we
kept the radio on and continued on the trip along Cabot trail... Along the trip, there were some great views, some of small villages like we had seen in Newfoundland... and of course there was a Light house .... As we followed the trail around the peninsula we found many other great views of mountains and shoreline.... then on the final leg when it was getting early dusk we saw our second bull Moose, right close in the ditch along the road... we watched him for about 20 minutes as others stopped.... the Moose just continued eating on the bushes and seemed to ignore all the attention... the park is protected, but Moose season has just begun, so he better stay on park land.... anyway, we were both excited to see a bull moose so close up.... We returned very tired, ate a light supper, and went to bed early... it has been a long day, and the terrorist attacks in the US have overshadowed other events of the day.... we have had the radio on continuously trying to get some news on the details of the attacks.... |
