Journal Day 30
Vacationland RV Park
Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Well.... we can change our minds if we want to....    went in and got the Jeep... took them longer than projected because they had to remove the tow package to get at and replace the gas tank....   but it was ready to go by 11:00...   packed up the trailer and after some discussion decided to skip Halifax and the south end of NS for this trip, so headed for PEI instead.... we felt that NS deserved more time and energy than we felt we had at this point, so will come back again (as many do)...

We were able to catch the last afternoon ferry (4:30) to PEI....  it is free going across (70 minute trip) and you have to pay when you come back....  we plan to leave via the new Confederation Bridge on the west side of the island...  the new bridge is about 7 miles long and costs about $40 to cross...   the restaurant on the boat was open, so we ate our supper and watched the waves as we made the cruise...  the water was much rougher than when we crossed to Newfoundland...

Our campground book identified several "Good Sam" rated parks around Charlottetown, the capital that is located in the middle of the Island...  we headed that direction and eventually wound up at the Vacationland RV Park which is about 8 miles north of Charlottetown and near the North shore beaches.... a major recreation area....   we tried a closer park on the way, but found it closed for the season.... this one is closing on Sunday, so we will be staying the last two nights of their season... it is a very large park and packed in the summer months, but now nearly empty except for the seasonal rentals (which are many), so we were able to pick a nice grassy spot next to the washrooms...  tomorrow we will investigate the island....
