Journal Day 32
Holiday Haven Campground
Cornwall, PEI

The campground was closing for the season, so we moved to Holiday Haven Campround at Cornwall (just a couple miles along the harbor from Charlottetown).    A very nice campground near on the harbor where we can watch the clam and oyster fishing out our window.      Some in the campground were walking out during low tide and digging up clams and bringing them back to eat raw with their meal...  Oyster season has just opened, so the harbor is full of small boats collecting buckets of oysters....    Of the 3 "Good Sam" parks around Charlottetown, this is clearly the one we would recommend... much better maintained than the other two that also closed early for the season...

Once moved into the new park, we headed out for a day trip up to Eastpoint, the northeast point of the island..  It was a sunny day and beautiful rolling farm land in the central areas on the way....  we stopped along several beach areas along he way, and found that the island has a number of Provincial Parks all around the coastal area of the island...  I would recommend that visitors consider using the Provincial Parks away from the cities as the scenery and beaches are beautiful...  Finally we arrived at a Eastpoint and the   lighthouse....

The trip back was longer than we anticipated after stopping for an hour to eat, and taking a longer route, so it was 7:30 before we finally pulled in...     When we checked in earlier, a woman ran up to us and asked if we were the ones with the Aliner...  we said yes and she said they had an Aliner someplace in the park, but were now off for a sidetrip... it turned out that we were assigned a campsite right in front of them...    when we got back, they were outside cooking a lobster, so we stopped by to say hello.... Suzanne gave them a copy of the Aliner Owners Club newsletter which they appreciated and we exchanged tips on our Aliners..  they had bought a used one (1995 model) and had been camping for about a year... they were from Ontario...  first time either of us had camped with another Aliner in the park (except for the Rally last June for us)...

We were able to upload email from this campground, and found that there is a local ATT number we can use to connect, with no charge...  so we took advantage of that and did some updates on the Internet that normally take more time...
