Quebec Travel and Quebec City

Quebec City
Viewing Quebec City across the St. Lawrence River

Quebec is a foreign country....  it became obvious as the signs normally sharing French/English began to disappear a short distance across the border.   It is too bad as Quebec has much to offer its visitors, and yet can appear unfriendly and even dangerous for those of us camping... for example, we were warned that many water taps in campgrounds are unsafe for drinking and are only marked in French.   A couple of French teachers that we met from Ottawa, fluent in the language, told us that they are even made to feel uncomfortable at times when visiting in Montreal.

But we enjoyed our short stay across the St. Lawrence river from Quebec City as it is very beautiful with a European flare.   Taking the ferry across to the city and visiting the old town near the water that had been renovated with quaint shops and restaurants was the highlight our travels in Quebec.
